Our Story

Lakewood's neighborhood roaster, since 1979.

Village Roaster opened on Alameda Avenue before specialty coffee was a category, before third-wave was a phrase, and before most of Lakewood's current residents had moved here. What started as a neighborhood shop run on honest instincts has grown into one of Colorado's longest-running independent roasters — without losing the thing that made it work in the first place: it's a place for the neighborhood.

The shop carries what people ask for. That means a full range of roasts — light and bright for the pour-over crowd, dark and full for the drip-pot diehards, espresso blends designed for home machines as well as commercial ones. It also means tea: green, black, oolong, and herbal selections that have been part of the Village inventory for decades. And it means spices, specialty gifts, and the kind of add-ons that make a coffee shop a proper neighborhood anchor rather than a single-category boutique.

We roast in small batches in Lakewood and ship fresh to your door. Local customers can order online and pick up at the Alameda shop — usually ready the next business day. If you've been a Village customer for years, welcome back. If you're new here, come in. We'll figure out what you like.

Village Roaster is family-run. The decisions about what we carry, how we roast, and how we treat our customers get made by people who live in this neighborhood and care about it. That's not a marketing line — it's just how a 40-plus-year-old small business works.
