Earl Grey Decaf is the naturally decaffeinated version of the classic bergamot-scented black tea — one of the world’s most recognized flavored teas. The tea base is a black tea blend, decaffeinated before scenting, then treated with cold-pressed bergamot oil from Calabria, Italy — the only commercial source of true bergamot (Citrus bergamia) in the world. The process preserves the essential aromatic character of the bergamot while removing most caffeine, making this suitable for afternoon and evening drinking.
The flavor profile follows the classic Earl Grey: bright bergamot citrus, distinctive lavender-like floral notes from linalyl acetate, and a smooth, mellow black tea backbone. The decaffeination process typically uses CO₂ or ethyl acetate methods that preserve aromatic integrity better than older solvent techniques.
Brew at 195°F for 3–4 minutes. Use 2.5 grams per 8-ounce cup. A ceramic teapot is ideal. Drink black or with milk. The bergamot aroma is sensitive to temperature extremes — avoid boiling water, which can flatten the top notes.
